Angelic Pretty – Cream Cookie Parade Review

Hello hello~ A few months ago, I placed an order with the US branch of Angelic Pretty and finally got around to making a post about it! I ordered pieces from Angelic Pretty’s Cream Cookie Parade line.

The announcement of Cream Cookie Parade hit me hard. Because of my desire to be a circus-themed lolita, I rarely look at prints outside of this theme. In fact, the only dress I own so far that doesn’t fit this aesthetic (diamonds, carousels, cards, stripes, carnivals, tuxedos, etc) is my Angelic Pretty’s Horror Garden JSK.

There’s been a lot of opposing opinions this year about Angelic Pretty’s newer releases. A lot of the criticism has been about the cuts, prints, and designs; some people even going as far to describe them as “boring.” I personally don’t get it! I’m perfectly okay with a design-oriented company trying new things and experimenting with style. Whatever Angelic Pretty made in the past already exists so what’s the point of making new stuff that looks like the old stuff? It reminds me of arguments whenever a band makes a new album. “The old stuff was better! They’re really sold out!” I never really thought I’d see that in Lolita fashion but I guess you experience new things every day!

I don’t consider myself to be a “Sweet” Lolita and especially not an OTT Sweet Lolita so I’m definitely liking the more mature approach Angelic Pretty has taken with their more recent cuts & prints this year. I have a few others I’ve got my eye on before the end of this year including Milky Pony Carnival, Dreamy Parfait, and Toy Circus (stock photos not yet released).

As mentioned in a previous post, biscuits & cookies are a guilty pleasure theme I have in contrast with Circus. My secondary wishlist items have been SWIMMER’s biscuit bags (two which I’ve acquired along with two FLAPPER biscuit bags) and Angelic Pretty’s Melty Chocolate shoes. So when I saw Cream Cookie Parade, I instantly knew I had to have it.

I ordered on July 21 the same time at the US release of the print. I wanted to get the Ivory OTKs as well but someone beat me to them. On top of that, the US branch did not stock any of the blouses. Since then, they’ve restocked those and I’m hoping to get them sometime before the end of the year! ^_^ In the meantime, I opted for the skirt, head-bow, and biscuit hair-clips. The package was marked shipped on July 24th and arrived July 28th!

I love how delicious everything looks in the print. The ice cream, the biscuits, the tea, and cookie sandwiches! I feel like there was a lot of effort made into each food design.

Even the lacing has cute spoons, forks, and knives in it!

Final Thoughts

I love everythinggg about this skirt! Honestly, it’s making me wonder if I should get the JSK or OP in pink as well! >_< I haven’t gotten the opportunity to wear it yet but I’m really looking forward to it!

Thanks for reading!

Circus Haul!

Hello, happy Monday! This week, I will be talking about recent themed purchases!

I am a lolita who deeply loves the circus/carousel/carnival theme and as such, most of my prints & accessories follow those themes! This particular haul post reflects a bundle of items I’ve gotten that I believe properly reflect these themes.

I got one of the last OTKs & dresses on my Wishlist, which was AATP’s Starlit Sky Tent and the Secret Circus Trope OP and Circus Tent Stripe OTKs!

I bought them both from the same seller who also included the matching bonnet!

If anyone who reads this decides to get this OP, please know that the lolibrary measurements are not entirely accurate! If you’re tall with wide shoulders like I am the shirring won’t help in the way it’s supposed to! I actually wanted to get new bras so I got some minimizer bras and they helped me fit comfortably into the dress!

I also got a new blouse and vest. The blouse I got is from Excentrique and it’s called the Lace Collar Crown Blouse.

Lace details

I really like that the collar resembles a ruff collar! It has a beautiful lace pattern and I really think it will pull a lot of my circus coordinates together.

img_7829

The striped vest is from PEACE NOW. I’m hoping to incorporate it in more gothic circus  coordinates. My biggest concern is that it’s like black & silver stripes rather than black & white but in pictures it doesn’t really seem noticeable! I’m hoping it’ll help balance out between skirts & blouses I have. Whenever I wear blouses & skirts, I always feel like my torso is empty so I believe this’ll help pull it together.

But the two winners of my recent stuff has to be the AATP Enamel Circus Shoes & this cool Jane Marple jacket I bought from Wunderwelt!

img_7815

img_7826

The shoes are SO GOOD I can’t stop wearing them ahhh; I’ve tried them on with so many things I own. The bows in the back are detachable! Funny story, the person I bought the shoes from was someone I had purchased a dress from in the past. At the time, the dress was missing an item (I knew it was missing before buying it) but the seller found it since then and sent it with the shoes! ;w; Another funny story, I actually saw these shoes posted in the Amino by someone and felt so bummed that I wouldn’t be able to get them. Days later they show up in my size! XD

Coordinate test

As for the JM jacket, it has a jester feel! The collar is wire so the sections are adjustable! I was really hoping it would match my IW Midnight Merry Go Round print and in real life they’re a perfect blue match 😱One of the buttons came off as part of the listed damaged but that’s such an easy fix, it wasn’t a deterrent to getting it! Soooooooo excited to wear it!

Anyway thanks for reading all of that! I’m looking forward to planning out some new coordinates! (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑

Casual Bubble Tea Meet-Up

Hello! Thanks for joining me this week!

Two weekends ago, I hosted a casual meet-up and I wanted to share my pictures! I’ve been trying to host more casual meet-ups to encourage busy or inactive people in the community to participate. There’s a bubble tea place right down the street from my apartment so I thought it would be the perfect place to meet for one or two hours. The bubble tea place also specializes in a sushi bar with lots of delicious arrangements of sushi!

RSVPs for the event were very sporadic but a few people actually ended up showing up! It made me super happy! Because it was casual, I also opted for a more casual look, changing the outfit I wore to the circus slightly. It was definitely interesting walking down the street in lolita fashion, definitely not something I’m used to despite it being a street fashion. I hope I’ll eventually be able to get used to it and do it more often!

I hope you enjoyed reading this little snippet! I hope over time I can host more casual meet-ups and that more people will get involved! Hosting events is definitely stressful, especially when it comes to making sure the guests, location, and activity are in order. However, by the end of it, I think it’s all worth it!

‘Til next week!

Pastel Skies Review ✧

Hello! Happy Labor Day! Thanks for joining me this week!

This week I will be reviewing Pastel Skies, an independent brand presently selling exclusively through the website Lolita Desu. Lolita Desu is a favorite secondhand website of mine, I regularly speak highly of them on this blog and in my recent Accessory Haul I actually bought an item from Pastel Skies! Shortly after, Pastel Skies posted on its Facebook that it was looking for sponsored reviewers so I jumped at the opportunity to apply and got selected! ^^ For this review, I was sent two items so I’d like to review those items, as well as the initial item I bought in my previous Haul. I glossed over it in the previous haul post so I think a more in depth one is at hand.

First purchase:

In my haul, I had purchased the Chocolate Cookie Cream Ring in Brown. It was $10 before the discounts. I initially picked out this ring to match with my Angelic Pretty Cream Cookie Parade skirt.

07061806_595dfdae3bf89

I was looking for cookie/biscuit inspired things for the coordinate so this one definitely stuck out to me! Here are some close-up photos:

img_7664

img_7665

img_7662

The craftsmanship is good with minor complaints, mostly that the cookie is a little crooked but still easily identifiable as a cream cookie sandwich. I wouldn’t say its imperfections are noticeable from a distance. For those more picky about their handmade items, their clay ones might not be what you’re looking for but honestly, since it’s very cute and large (and cheap!) it’s easy for me to overlook.

img_7668

And it matches my skirt really well!

Sponsored purchase:

For this review, I asked for two items:

IMG_8794__50769.1492513859

Kira Kira Resin Sea Shell Ring in White ($3.00)

Velvet_Square_Ribbon_Bow_Mini_Barrette__50663.1500722071

Velvet Square Ribbon Bow Mini Barrette in Wine ($8.00)

Reasons:

I picked the Velvet Bow because the red color goes well with some of the dresses & accessories I already have. I thought it could be a great addition to a circus coordinate. I have several items that are this shade of Wine and layering is definitely a lolita skill I want to be able to improve upon.

I picked the Sea Shell Ring because I recently pre-ordered Milky Way’s Jelllyfish bag.

Jellyfish Bag
Since then, I’ve been trying to think about how I could make an aquatic circus themed coordinate. I thought this ring was a nice neutral color that could work very well.

When I received the package, it was packaged nicely as expected from ordering with Lolita Desu!

 img_7617

I always love the free candy! *_* This time it was gummy sushi

I opened the Velvet Bow first!

Thoughts:

I really like that the Velvet bow has the barrette stitches to it rather than glued. With handmade barrettes I’ve bought in the past, there have been breakage due to glue rather than stitching! It goes well with some of my other wine accessories. It’s pretty small, around the size of an average hair-clip but I think it adds enough necessary decoration.

As for the ring, I ended up liking it much more than I thought I would! In person, there’s a clear layer over a white glittery base that gives the shell ring a lot of depth. The ring base is standard and adjustable. It makes a great compliment to a seashell ring I found thrift shopping at some point. I think they go wonderfully together!

img_7660

Thanks for joining me this week and thanks to Pastel Skies for letting me write this review! I hope you enjoyed this review. What do you think of my items from Pastel Skies? Considering ordering from there? What would you buy? Let me know in the comments!

See you next week! ^_^

Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum: Patches, Antiques, & More

Hello hello! This past weekend I visited Buffalo & Lockport with my boyfriend. ^_^ The Buffalo Lolita community planned a meet-up for the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum and some Rochester lolitas decided to join in! I was debating going but my boyfriend, Bobby, expressed needing to go to Lockport to do an errand for his mother. With the errand & the meet, we decided to turn it into a full trip!

We rented a hotel room & spent some time going to the Buffalo Zoo and then shopping at Walden Galleria. At the mall, we went to a few places and I got some new patches, notepads, makeup, & a pop figure.

At the Carrousel Museum, we got to learn about the history of carousels and how this company made most of the carousels around the United States. It was interesting to see how they went from completely wooden horses to half-wood/half-metal horses, to fiberglass horses. I loved the designs of so many of them!

Example woodshop

At the end of the walkthrough. my friends and I got to ride the large carousel together! ^_^

everyone was super cute >_<

Before we went in, I managed to get some good selfies and Bobby took some wonderful outfit shots for me! This is my first time wearing this dress out so I was super excited. I bought them from my Wunderwelt Order recently. I had trouble with the bonnet but one the girls in my comm, Lauren (who I went with to the Memorial Art Gallery) helped me secure it! ^_^

Lolita Desu Accessory Haul

I recently placed two orders with Lolita Desu again, a favorite website of mine for secondhand lolita goods. (You can read two of my reviews here & here)

They recently announced an accessory sale on their website. Up to 25% off depending on the amount of accessories.

“5% for 2 accessories

10% for 3

15% for 4

20% for 5

25%  for 6″

I had quite a few accessories I had been debating buying for a while so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to get them! I put enough in my cart to qualify for the free shipping.

I totaled 9 items:

1 × “Girl’s Orchestra Kanaria, Accordion” (Balloon Girl with Harmonica) Postcard from Imai Kira

Total: $152.50
Discount: -$32.13
Grand Total:$120.37

The Fake Sweets Bible is a magazine people have been talking about lately because it comes with a mold to make your own lolita jewelry complete with full tutorials!
Shortly after, they posted a bonnet by Vierge Vampur. VV is a brand I’ve recently found myself being deeply interested due to the brightly colored dark themed (often circus themed) dresses and accessories she makes, so seeing this come up, I had to immediately buy it. Lolita Desu has this point system called Fuwa Fuwa points, which gives you coupon points proportional to the money you spend on the site. I exchanged my Fuwa Fuwa points for a $35 off coupon and ordered the bonnet & brooch from SWIMMER. The accessories sale was still in effect as well!

1 × Crown Bonnet in Ivory from Vierge Vampur

1 × Alice Clock Brooch from SWIMMER

Subtotal:

Postcard 2

Enchantlic Enchantilly continues to be my favorite go-to for lolita accessories and so I had my eyes on this hat pin for a while. I love the mask design and the detail of the gem.

The Neon Circus OTKs have to be the most comfortable brand OTKs I’ve ever had. I have thick calves and these actually stretches all the way above my knees without scrunching or being too tight! Lolita Desu also was way too generous on describing the damages. I couldn’t find any of the issues or staining mentioned, it’s like they’re in new condition!

The SWIMMER brooch is as described. There is some fading that was mentioned in the damages in regard to it being “C” grade, but that doesn’t matter much to me. It’s barely noticeable. The ring goes nicely with my newly acquired Cream Cookie Parade Skirt from Angelic Pretty. I’ve been dying to own something from 6%DOKIDOKI, specifically this brooch! But every time I saw it, it was really expensive. Here it was not only affordable and on sale but in a color I really really like.

Beautiful color & glitter!

Free candy! 😀

Second package with VV bonnet:

Absolutely well-packaged again.

This SWIMMER brooch is really lovely. It’s emboried felt with beads!

img_7353

This is a very interesting bonnet! I really like the black & ivory striped bow on the back. It’s a lot flatter than I thought it would be but I think it helps the crown design show more.

Striped ribbon back

Lovely note, candy, and another sticker

Bonnet on!

What a great sale! Some of the items I got retail at much greater prices so I was more than happy to buy. The Fuwa Fuwa Points also ended up being extremely helpful and goes to show how much being a loyal customer to the site ends up paying off on future purchases. Without the Fuwa Fuwa points, I couldn’t have made the order and would have missed out of this beautiful unique bonnet.

Overall, Lolita Desu never disappoints me with their well-stocked store and variety. Their sales are so hard to resist, I had to order twice! ><

Thanks for reading! Til next time!

Tokyo Otaku Mode: Otaku Prize Spin Haul, ACDC Lucky Pack, & Review

Hi hi! Long post ahead! This week I talk about my recent haul with Tokyo Otaku Mode!
Tokyo Otaku Mode is a massive online seller of Japanese brand items, unique content creators, and anime merchandise & figures! I’ve ordered a lot in the past but thought I’d do a review of the website due to a recent promotion. Tokyo Otaku Mode has offered the “Otaku Prize Wheel.” Spinning this wheel allows you to enter an ongoing competition for a special prize, as well as qualify for a $3, $5, $10, $50, or $100 coupon that expires in 24 hours. After getting yet another $10 coupon, I took a gamble, shared the prize wheel on my twitter to get another chance at spinning, and actually won the $100 coupon!!!

With that special occasion in mind, I decided to place a large order. xD

Part of the reason I stopped ordering regularly from TOM was due to the changes they made on their shipping. Shipping is generally really expensive on the website so it’s really difficult to get more bang for your buck, especially when buying just one or two items. For $150 minimum, you can get free shipping but only under specific certain conditions otherwise you get a shipping discount and TOM points in return so I sprung for that option! With the $100 coupon, I had to put at least $250 worth of things in my cart. (Managed to hit it with just .97 cents over!)

180

The haul! Complete with shipping discount & TOM Point return!

Tom also recently started a Membership system with an Early Bird Price of $4.99. If you continue, you get special discounts on certain objects & a credit of TOM Points. I figured it couldn’t hurt to at least give it a try.

The SWIMMER biscuit bag has been on my second-tier wishlist for a while now. But it’s incredibly difficult to find secondhand in good condition for a reasonable price. I had been eyeing these FLAPPER biscuit bags on TOM since they’re really similar in design and since I recently found a SWIMMER biscuit bag in Strawberry (pink) on Yahoo Japan auctions, I decided to get the FLAPPER bags in the two SWIMMER colors I wouldn’t have (beige & camel)

I also opted for a smaller pass case in the Brown color to go with the pink SWIMMER biscuit bag as I’ve been planning a coordinate with the recently launched Cream Cookie Parade by Angelic Pretty!

Other choices include a cute Sentimental Circus tissue box cover and some Rilakkuma stationary & school supplies. I’ve started to enjoy writing letters so anything that’s stationary related is very appealing to me!

Lately, I’ve been purging my wardrobe so to speak, getting rid of everything I don’t absolutely love. As a result, I’ve made at least half a dozen trips to the local Goodwills and sent off many packages both for friends & buyers. With most of the excess gone, I’ve been looking to replenish my wardrobe with new things so I thought I’d get this Listen Flavor shirt I’ve been eyeing all summer (Listen Flavor is definitely my favorite everyday Japanese fashion brand) and to try out the ACDC RAG Lucky Pack since ACDC RAG seems to be getting more active on TOM’s website.

So this review will be broken up into two parts; The overall TOM haul and then specifically the ACDC RAG lucky pack! Let’s begin!

I placed my order on July 20th. It shipped on July 24th. I missed the original delivery on the 27th and got it delivered on the 28th.

Main TOM haul:

img_7186

Very large box!

Normally with every TOM order, you get a free file folder featuring the art of a special artist. This month’s artist has beautiful artowrk. Can’t take my eyes off it.

Free File Folder

The thing I decided to open first was the Sentimental Circus Tissue Box Holder! It’s so large and fluffy!

The stationary set was very well packaged in its own plastic container. I love the colors, very soft pastel purples, pinks, and blues.

The stationary set is something else. On the website, it’s marked that it includes:

Memo pad
Pencil board
12-pack of 2B pencils
Eraser
Caps
Glue
Soft pen case

The memo pad has no lines so I think it’ll be great for drawing or practicing my Japanese writing. The pencil case is soooo soft! It comes with two sides for storing pencils and an internal pencil sharpener.

I also got some nice Sentimental Circus washi tape, a new pair of scissors, and a file folder with matching print.

Already in love with these scissors. I have a habit of misplacing my scissors but I can’t even imagine misplacing this cute pastel pink pair!

The file folder is really cute, it’s called Sweet Lolita by OTOE. I chose the blue version! I love her expression and can’t wait to find a good frame for it.

The file folder is partially see through and lovely.

Lookin’ coolllll

The stars of this order are definitely the Biscuit Bags though! Sturdy, well made, cute colors, cute shape! I’m glad I went with the decision to get Beige & Camel!

Camel

Beige

The Pass Case is very interesting in that it’s really firm & sturdy! I didn’t expect that at all, seems like it’d be great for holding pass or identification cards.

Brown Pass Case

And of course, the Listen Flavor shirt. This makes probably shirt number…10-ish of Listen Flavor shirts I have! I really dig the popcorn shark, it’s also apparently reversible!

Overall a great haul! I love the collection of everything. All very well packaged, with strong quality over all the brands I explored. The FLAPPER bags were the first FLAPPER items I’ve ever bought and with how pleased I am with the quality, they’re definitely going to be a foundation I turn to for lolita bags, especially with SWIMMER’s recent announcement that they’re closing.

Now for the moment of truth! The Lucky Pack!

ACDC RAG Lucky Pack:

I actually got the lucky pack sampled on the website! Came with everything shown and I don’t mind that at all because I actually really like the sample pack! There’s only one shirt I don’t like so a turn around of two shirts, two bottoms, and a belt isn’t bad for the price.

ACDC RAG Lucky Pag / Soucre: Tokyo Otaku Mode

Very large plastic drawstring bag

This is the shirt of the pack I don’t like, not a fan of a print

Toothpaste Toothpaste Toothpaste

I’m completely in love with the skull print top! That and the unicorn skirt are great patterned- additions to my wardrobe!

The skirt is definitely a little short, I’d have to wear them with leggings or pants underneath because I’m just too tall. However, the waist has elastic so it’s very comfy to wear. Super bright and colorful with an adorable print! I’d love to wear it during the day-to-day or make a decora based coordinate with it.

But what I REALLY like the most are these pants! I love the heavy jogger style pants that have been getting more and more popular lately. I own a pair of black & white polka-dotted pants in a similar shape from listen Flavor and I’ve been itching to own another pair of these comfortable pants.

That’s it for this week! Whew! I hope you enjoyed both reviews! Winning the $100 coupon was definitely a stroke of dumb luck but I’m thankful for the nice additions to my desk/stationary life, daily wardrobe, and lolita wardrobe. Let me know what item you liked the most in the comments! Until next time!

Memorial Art Gallery Hangout

Hello hello~
This past Sunday I went to the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery with one of my friends from my comm!

We went to listen to the Italian Baroque Organ the museum has on constant display.
You can find out more information about the organ on the Memorial Art Gallery’s website! 🙂

The person playing the organ was just wonderful. She showed us the organ’s barrows and talked about the origin of the organ in regards to the museum. Apparently the organ was in pieces and being sold as furniture before it was saved, restored, and acquired by the museum! I found this very cool video by the University of Rochester, which features a time-lapse of the Organ being assembled in 2005!

There was also an interesting exhibit on the Female Gaze as well as permanent exhibits.We were so busy chatting, I completely forgot to take new pictures of any of the art! ^^;

We did however, take pictures in front of the organ 😀

Movie Meet – My Neighbor Totoro

This past weekend, I went to see My Neighbor Totoro with some of my comm!
Being a former animation student, there’s no way to truly express the deep level of appreciation I have for Studio Ghibli films. Spirited Away was an important movie to me while I was growing up so I’m really looking forward to watching all the Ghibli movies as they screen again in theaters. For the meet, I decided to dress very casually. I got to wear my new Dreamholic wig and my Catbus pin that I bought two summers ago at the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo!

img_6495

The film got off to a rough start due to the theater having technical issues. It skipped the beginning and played around 15 minutes of movie without any sound. But once they were alerted, they restarted the entire film and we got to watch without any issues!
After we got out of the film, a boy asked his father to take a picture of us with him. I thought that was really cool hahaha.

After the movie, we went to get bubble tea and then walk around the mall before it closed. I have to say, being in Hot Topic in Lolita is a very interesting feeling.

Afterwards, we took a cute picture together!

I’m looking forward to our next meetup! 🙂

Jesters of the Moon Clown Hat Review

As mentioned in my post Lolita Wishlist, I talked about the Jesters of the Moon Clown Hat by Alice and the Pirates. As a lolita committed to the circus & carnival aesthetic, I absolutely had to have this hat. At first, I put off ordering it because it was still directly available for purchase online but when I checked online one day, it marked the hat as Sold Out. I immediately panicked, thinking I missed my chance, and posted about it in sales groups hoping someone would sell it to me secondhand. There, I got a tip that the BABY store in Sendai still had some on display. With that in mind, I first tried a shopping service to no success and then looked through BABY’s website for any information on how I might still order the hat.

Source: BABYSSB Facebook

The interesting part about BABYSSB Overseas is that even when an object is “Sold Out” online, it’s entirely possible that stock might exist somewhere in a physical store location so they have a form set up where people can email them with a product order inquiry and they’ll check for the object. If it’s in stock, they’ll immediately fulfill the order. They don’t just check the stock, this inquiry can only be made with the intent to buy the item so people don’t just email them to constantly check.

I sent them an email on June 10. They responded back on June 12 to confirm my order! I was so excited that I was just a few days away from owning it! I made payment on the 12th. They confirmed they received my payment on the 14th. My hat was shipped on June 16th! A delivery attempt was made on June 20 and I officially picked it up from the post office on June 21.

It’s so cute and fluffy and large~ All of the worries & concerns I had of it instantly vanished as soon as I put it on! I’m so glad I didn’t miss my opportunity to buy it!

They also sent me a very cute shopping bag with a pirate-themed illustration on it!

Because I’m new to lolita, there’s a lot of things that I’m unaware about, but apparently the hat had a lot of controversy when it was first announced due to the design being on the borderline of “costume,” as well as the price. But for me, I think it’s the perfect choice for an Over The Top lolita coordinate. I absolutely adore it and can’t wait to wear it out in a coordinate!
