Pastel Skies Review ✧

Hello! Happy Labor Day! Thanks for joining me this week!

This week I will be reviewing Pastel Skies, an independent brand presently selling exclusively through the website Lolita Desu. Lolita Desu is a favorite secondhand website of mine, I regularly speak highly of them on this blog and in my recent Accessory Haul I actually bought an item from Pastel Skies! Shortly after, Pastel Skies posted on its Facebook that it was looking for sponsored reviewers so I jumped at the opportunity to apply and got selected! ^^ For this review, I was sent two items so I’d like to review those items, as well as the initial item I bought in my previous Haul. I glossed over it in the previous haul post so I think a more in depth one is at hand.

First purchase:

In my haul, I had purchased the Chocolate Cookie Cream Ring in Brown. It was $10 before the discounts. I initially picked out this ring to match with my Angelic Pretty Cream Cookie Parade skirt.

I was looking for cookie/biscuit inspired things for the coordinate so this one definitely stuck out to me! Here are some close-up photos:

The craftsmanship is good with minor complaints, mostly that the cookie is a little crooked but still easily identifiable as a cream cookie sandwich. I wouldn’t say its imperfections are noticeable from a distance. For those more picky about their handmade items, their clay ones might not be what you’re looking for but honestly, since it’s very cute and large (and cheap!) it’s easy for me to overlook.

And it matches my skirt really well!

Sponsored purchase:

For this review, I asked for two items:

Kira Kira Resin Sea Shell Ring in White ($3.00)

Velvet_Square_Ribbon_Bow_Mini_Barrette__50663.1500722071

Velvet Square Ribbon Bow Mini Barrette in Wine ($8.00)

Reasons:

I picked the Velvet Bow because the red color goes well with some of the dresses & accessories I already have. I thought it could be a great addition to a circus coordinate. I have several items that are this shade of Wine and layering is definitely a lolita skill I want to be able to improve upon.

I picked the Sea Shell Ring because I recently pre-ordered Milky Way’s Jelllyfish bag.

Since then, I’ve been trying to think about how I could make an aquatic circus themed coordinate. I thought this ring was a nice neutral color that could work very well.

When I received the package, it was packaged nicely as expected from ordering with Lolita Desu!

I always love the free candy! *_* This time it was gummy sushi

Well packaged with a note from Fox & Turtle

Thoughts:

I really like that the Velvet bow has the barrette stitches to it rather than glued. With handmade barrettes I’ve bought in the past, there have been breakage due to glue rather than stitching! It goes well with some of my other wine accessories. It’s pretty small, around the size of an average hair-clip but I think it adds enough necessary decoration.

As for the ring, I ended up liking it much more than I thought I would! In person, there’s a clear layer over a white glittery base that gives the shell ring a lot of depth. The ring base is standard and adjustable. It makes a great compliment to a seashell ring I found thrift shopping at some point. I think they go wonderfully together!

Thanks for joining me this week and thanks to Pastel Skies for letting me write this review! I hope you enjoyed this review. What do you think of my items from Pastel Skies? Considering ordering from there? What would you buy? Let me know in the comments!

See you next week! ^_^

Lolita Desu Accessory Haul

I recently placed two orders with Lolita Desu again, a favorite website of mine for secondhand lolita goods. (You can read two of my reviews here & here)

They recently announced an accessory sale on their website. Up to 25% off depending on the amount of accessories.

“5% for 2 accessories

10% for 3

15% for 4

20% for 5

25%  for 6″

I had quite a few accessories I had been debating buying for a while so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to get them! I put enough in my cart to qualify for the free shipping.

I totaled 9 items:

1 × “Girl’s Orchestra Kanaria, Accordion” (Balloon Girl with Harmonica) Postcard from Imai Kira

The Fake Sweets Bible is a magazine people have been talking about lately because it comes with a mold to make your own lolita jewelry complete with full tutorials!
Shortly after, they posted a bonnet by Vierge Vampur. VV is a brand I’ve recently found myself being deeply interested due to the brightly colored dark themed (often circus themed) dresses and accessories she makes, so seeing this come up, I had to immediately buy it. Lolita Desu has this point system called Fuwa Fuwa points, which gives you coupon points proportional to the money you spend on the site. I exchanged my Fuwa Fuwa points for a $35 off coupon and ordered the bonnet & brooch from SWIMMER. The accessories sale was still in effect as well!

Enchantlic Enchantilly continues to be my favorite go-to for lolita accessories and so I had my eyes on this hat pin for a while. I love the mask design and the detail of the gem.

The Neon Circus OTKs have to be the most comfortable brand OTKs I’ve ever had. I have thick calves and these actually stretches all the way above my knees without scrunching or being too tight! Lolita Desu also was way too generous on describing the damages. I couldn’t find any of the issues or staining mentioned, it’s like they’re in new condition!

The SWIMMER brooch is as described. There is some fading that was mentioned in the damages in regard to it being “C” grade, but that doesn’t matter much to me. It’s barely noticeable. The ring goes nicely with my newly acquired Cream Cookie Parade Skirt from Angelic Pretty. I’ve been dying to own something from 6%DOKIDOKI, specifically this brooch! But every time I saw it, it was really expensive. Here it was not only affordable and on sale but in a color I really really like.

Beautiful color & glitter!

Free candy! 😀

Second package with VV bonnet:

Absolutely well-packaged again.

This SWIMMER brooch is really lovely. It’s emboried felt with beads!

img_7353

This is a very interesting bonnet! I really like the black & ivory striped bow on the back. It’s a lot flatter than I thought it would be but I think it helps the crown design show more.

Striped ribbon back

Lovely note, candy, and another sticker

Bonnet on!

What a great sale! Some of the items I got retail at much greater prices so I was more than happy to buy. The Fuwa Fuwa Points also ended up being extremely helpful and goes to show how much being a loyal customer to the site ends up paying off on future purchases. Without the Fuwa Fuwa points, I couldn’t have made the order and would have missed out of this beautiful unique bonnet.

Overall, Lolita Desu never disappoints me with their well-stocked store and variety. Their sales are so hard to resist, I had to order twice! ><

Thanks for reading! Til next time!

Lolita Desu Lucky Pack 2017!

For those who may be unaware, Lolita Desu is a secondhand (and sometimes new) lolita-based store located in Saitama, Japan. You can read my previous review of them here.

They released their new lucky packs for 2017 and I thought I’d try my luck with them again!

This time I ordered two lucky packs, the “Royally Sweet Like Alice” Lolita Lucky Pack & the “Cute Spring Home” Luck Pack.

Here are the basics of the product descriptions:

“Royally Sweet Like Alice” Lolita Lucky Pack (B~C Condition, 6 + 1 items):

Original print skirt from Baby, the Stars Shine Bright.
Blouse from Angelic Pretty.
Parka from Angelic Pretty.
Original print headbow from Baby, the Stars Shine Bright.
High Knee Socks from Angelic Pretty.
Necklace from SWIMMER
FREEBIE:
Ribbon Brooch Bow, most likely from Angelic Pretty, originally part of another garment.
“Cute Spring Home ” Lucky Pack (A~B Condition, 10 items):

1 note pad from Swimmer.
1 Toilet brush Chocoholic.
1 glue stick from Chocoholic.
1 pen from Chocoholic.
1 cake fork from Swimmer.
1 photo album from Chocoholic.
1 gift envelope set from Swimmer.
1 plate from Chocoholic.
1 cute interior sheet from Chocoholic)
1 kids alpacasso from Amuse.

Okay so I placed my order on 02/16/17.
It shipped on 02/20/2017 and I received it on 02/24/17.
My total came out to $160 for both packs.

Because I ordered over $150 worth, my order qualified for free shipping!

Arrival & Opening!

Let’s talk about the Cute Spring Home pack first since it has the most items.

Definitely a solid pack! I really liked that the entire pack seemed to fit the theme very well.
The plate presently sits nicely in my kitchen in case of cake-time.
The photo-album is great for storing instax mini photos I’ve taken of me and my friends.

I actually used the Chocoholic interior sheet to decorate my work desk where I make crafts!

So onto the clothes with the Royally Sweet Like Alice lucky pack.

I think it’s pretty amazing!
A very minor complaint is that while I knew the main color was going to be pink, I didn’t expect this much pink. I greatly would have preferred a smidge more variety among the basics like the blouse or parka.

Loving the Alice necklace and the socks!

The blouse unfortunately does not fit me. While my bust & waist measurements were correct to what was listed on the website, without the shoulder & arm measurements, I was unable to predict it being too tight on my body. However, I am in the process of becoming more physically fit so who knows, with time maybe it will!

But my favorite item out of the entire set is the skirt!

Okay this skirt, I ADORE this skirt. I’m actually surprised with myself regarding how much I like it.

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Alice and the Seven Keys Print Skirt

It’s crazy to think that this skirt is 11 years old. It’s from 2006 and has a nice bustle in the back. I adore the dark pink roses on the soft pink print.

It’s also been a challenge to find any images of a coordinate featuring this skirt so I’m motivated to pull together something nice highlighting it.

Besides the two lucky packs, I also ordered a SWIMMER watch.

I’ve wanted this watch for a while and was very happy to see it in stock!

They also gave me a nice surprise! Despite missing the deadline, they generously included me in their special Valentine’s special with a surprise Chocolate Towel! And of course, another sweet candy.

Overall, a great order again. Lolita Desu’s lucky packs are always a wonderfully pleasant surprise and I often end up getting nice pieces that I would not have considered on my own otherwise. I’m really looking forward to my next one!
